Peter Noel, DVM, DACVR
Veterinary Radiologist

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Peter Noel to the VitalRADS team of veterinary specialists. He will read and interpret veterinary radiology cases.

Dr. Noel graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After completing a small animal rotating internship at the University of Pennsylvania, he completed a radiology residency program at the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 2016. Dr. Noel became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) in 2016. During his residency, Dr. Noel received a grant for his research on the accuracy of off-site smartphone interpretation of abdominal radiographs. Following publication of the study in the journal Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound, he was chosen for the annual ACVR Resident Author Award. Dr. Noel lives in Chicago with his wife, Meg, and son, Harry.


J.R. (Bert) Dodd, BS, DVM, FAVD, DAVDC
Veterinary Dentistry Specialist

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Bert Dodd to the VitalRADS team of veterinary specialists. He will read and report upon veterinary dental radiographs only. These dental radiographs can be attached as JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PNG, or DCM (dicom) to a case request on the VitalRADS website. Dr. J.R. Dodd received his DVM from Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. He opened the Hiway 620 Animal Hospital in Austin, TX in 1981. Dr. Dodd has received multiple awards, including the TAVP Clinical Referral and Consultation Award for 2006, the TVMA Medical Specialty of the Year Award in 2008, and the 2009 TVMA Award for Teaching. He is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College and is a past President of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. Teaching veterinary dentistry to other veterinarians, veterinary students, and veterinary technicians is one of his passions as he lectures throughout the United States. In 2004, Dr. Dodd was chosen as “Fellow of the Year” by the Academy for his dedication to teaching dentistry to his colleagues. His time is devoted to teaching students how to treat dental problems in pets. Outside of veterinary dentistry, Dr. Dodd loves woodworking and baseball.

Expected turnaround time on dental radiography reports from Dr. Dodd is 12-24 hours. Please note that all referrals which include dental CT exams and skull radiographs be directed to the VitalRADS radiologists, not to Dr. Dodd as he insists that the radiologists should be reading those types of imaging exams.

Dr. Marc Rainbow, DVM, MS, Diplomat ACVO
Veterinary Ophthalmology Specialist

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Marc Rainbow to the VitalRADS team of veterinary specialists. He will read and report upon veterinary ophthalmology cases.

Dr. Rainbow received his bachelor of science degree in 1991 from the Georgia Institute of Technology in the field of laser and optical physics. He then received a commission in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX and Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. In 1996, Marc left active duty to pursue his veterinary education.

Marc graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in June of 2000. Dr. Rainbow completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at Texas A&M University in 2001. Marc was accepted to an Ophthalmology Residency at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, during which he also completed a Master’s of Science degree.

Dr. Rainbow finished his ophthalmology training in July 2004 and moved to San Antonio to start South Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology. In 2014 Marc sold his practice in San Antonio and is now interpreting specialty cases for VitalRads and practicing Veterinary Ophthalmology at North Houston Veterinary Ophthalmology.

Dr. Rainbow will be accepting veterinary ophthalmology telemedicine consults through VitalRads. We invite you to submit requests for your ophthalmology cases that you may need assistance with. Any ophthalmology photos / images can be attached to case requests as JPEG, TIFF, BMP, or PNG on the VitalRADS website.

Expected turnaround time on ophthalmology reports from Dr. Rainbow may take up to 24 hours.
